Fair use of AI
Is Seal the Offer cheating?
No. Seal the Offer helps you prepare and apply honestly, from your own experience. It checks every claim about you, and removes any it can't back. It never helps during a live interview, test or recording. If an employer asks you not to use AI, we show their line and pause our help. You check everything before you send it.

What we help with
We help you get ready for one job: its application and its interview. Everything we write starts from your resume, your stories and the answers you give us.
- We list how to apply, in the ad's own words, so you don't miss a rule.
- We write the application the ad asks for, within its limits.
- We build answer cards on your real stories, so you can say them in your own words.
- Where your resume lacks a detail, we leave a [bracket] for you to fill in. We don't guess.
- Where your resume has no story for a common question, we write an example, labelled as made up. Swap it for a true story of your own.
A kit is for practice, not for reading out.
What we never do
- Help you during a live interview, test, assessment or recorded video interview.
- Do a test, assessment or take-home task for you.
- Ignore an employer's rule on AI.
- Leave in an invented employer, job title, date, degree, certificate, security clearance, citizenship, number or result.
- Apply for jobs or post anything for you.
- Analyse your face, your emotions or your voice.
Employers' rules come first
Some employers ask people not to use AI. Before we write anything, we look for a rule about AI in the ad and your other documents. That includes emails from the employer that you add.
If a line asks for no AI in your application, interview preparation or a take-home task, we show it. We pause our AI help for that part of the job, and we don't sell that help for the job. Turn it back on only if you're sure the employer allows it.
Take-home tasks: coach mode
A take-home task is work the employer wants to see from you. So coach mode explains what the task asks, helps you plan and research it, and proofreads your draft. It never writes any of it.
Our code keeps coaching small. A proofreading fix changes at most 3 words, and one proofread changes at most 30 words in all.
US federal jobs: your own words
On a US federal job, the essay answers must be your own work. Guidance from the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) asks you to certify they're your own words. That means written without AI or a consultant.
So we don't write, rewrite or proofread those answers, and no AI plans them either. This applies when a job has a USAJOBS link, or reads like a USAJOBS announcement. Our code keeps those questions out of what the AI reads. Your documents page shows each question, what it looks for, and notes from your resume.
If an employer asks how you used AI
Say what's true. Each job has an AI-use note: what you gave us, what Seal the Offer wrote and what you changed. It ends with a sentence you can copy.
Our fair-use policy
These rules apply to everyone who uses Seal the Offer. They're part of the terms you agree to.
- No live help. Don't use Seal the Offer during a real interview, test, assessment or recorded video interview. It's for preparing beforehand.
- No doing tests for you. Don't use Seal the Offer to do a test, assessment or take-home task an employer set you. If you add a take-home task, coach mode explains it, helps you plan and research it, and proofreads your draft. It never writes any of it.
- Employer rules come first. If a job ad, position description or employer's email says anything about using AI, we show you that line. It may ask you not to use AI for your application, interview preparation or a take-home task. If so, we pause our AI help for that part of the job. Turn it back on only if you're sure the employer allows it. Follow the employer's rules.
- We check every fact about you. We build on your resume, your stories and your answers. The AI is told never to make up employers, job titles, dates, degrees, certificates, security clearances, citizenship, numbers or results. We check every claim against what you gave us. Any we can't back is taken out. If an answer needs a detail your resume doesn't give, we leave a [bracket]. You fill it in with what really happened.
- Examples are labelled. If your resume has no story for a common question, we may write an example. It's marked as made up for you. It shows the shape of a good answer. Replace it with a true story before you use it.
- You check everything. Read every answer and document before you use or send it. Make sure it's true and in your own words. What you say in an interview, and what you send to an employer, is your responsibility.
- Limits per job. Each job includes up to 3 interviews, 10 answers you add and 20 card rewrites. In your documents, it includes 60 rewrites of words you select and 5 documents written again. It also includes 10 proofreads of take-home tasks. These limits are for normal personal use, not bulk or automated use.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it's fair, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
