How it works

How it works, from job ad to interview

Paste a job ad and add your resume. In seconds, we list how to apply, quoting the ad. Sign in with your email for a free preview: one full interview answer from your resume. Then choose what you need: the documents the ad asks for, an Interview Kit, or a pass with 5 kits.

1. Paste the job ad

  1. Choose Paste a job ad at the top of any page, or use the box on our home page.
  2. Paste the whole ad, or a link to it. Or attach a PDF or Word file, or up to 6 screenshots.
  3. Choose Read the ad.

If a job site won't let us open its link, we say so. Copy the ad's text and paste it in instead. No ad to hand? The box on our home page has sample ads to try. Paste your first job ad.

2. Add your resume

Add it as a PDF or Word file up to 10 MB, or paste its text. A LinkedIn profile saved as PDF works too.

We keep the text, not the file. Once you sign in, your resume is saved for your next job. More on adding your resume.

3. See what we read

The job's page shows the job title, with one line under it: the employer, the place and the interview language. There's nothing to confirm.

  • To fix something, choose Edit beside that line.
  • If the ad doesn't name the employer, you can add their name, so your kit researches them too. If we can't find the job title, we ask for it.
  • If we can't read the ad straight away, you can close the page. We keep trying and email you when it's ready.
  • We pick which interview is next from the ad, and you can change it where you get your kit. It sets the size of your kit: a phone screen gets 8 answers, and a final interview up to 18.

4. See how to apply, free

A few seconds after you add the ad, the job's page lists what it tells you to do. That covers documents, file types, page and word limits, and the closing date. It also covers eligibility, referees, extra stages and any rule about AI.

Each item quotes the ad, and our code checks the quote is really there. Tick each one as you go. If the employer asks for no AI, we show their line and pause our AI help for that part.

5. See your free preview

Signed in already? Your free preview starts by itself. New here? Choose Show my free preview, then sign in with the 6-digit code we email you, or with Google. We start writing it while you sign in.

In about half a minute, you get one full answer to the question this panel will most likely ask first. It's built from your resume. You also see what they'll ask about your resume, and what the ad requires.

You get one free preview. After any purchase, every new job gets one too. What's in the free preview.

6. Choose what you need

  • Application Pack, US$12: a resume tailored to the ad, and the cover letter, statement or selection criteria it asks for.
  • Interview Kit, US$39: answers to the questions they'll most likely ask, research on the employer and a cheat sheet. It covers up to 3 interviews, and the job's documents are included.
  • Job Hunt Pass, US$169: 5 Interview Kits for the jobs you choose, to use within 90 days.

Each is one payment, tax included, and nothing renews. In Australia, prices are in Australian dollars. You pay on Stripe's checkout page, and what you bought opens by itself. Every price, and what each option includes.

7. Get your documents

  1. Choose Start my documents. We read what the ad asks you to send, and its limits.
  2. Answer up to 6 questions to make them stronger, if you like. Every one is optional.
  3. Choose how far to tailor, then Write my documents.

Lines that go beyond your resume's own words are marked, for you to keep or take out. Details only you know stay in [brackets] for you to fill in. Edit anything, then download Word or PDF.

8. Prepare with your Interview Kit

Your kit takes about 3 minutes to write, and cards appear as they're ready. Each card shows a likely question and our estimate of the chance it's asked. Then a memory hook, and a short answer from your stories.

  • Test yourself: say each answer out loud, then check it against your card.
  • A one-page cheat sheet, and a PDF of the whole kit.
  • Practise with a friend: send a link, and they ask your questions and rate your answers.
  • Invited back? Prepare your next interview, up to 3 for each job.
