Where Huntr is better

  • Tracking many jobs. The free plan tracks up to 100 jobs, with contacts, notes and a map.
  • Saving jobs and filling in forms. Its extension saves jobs from sites like Indeed, LinkedIn and Greenhouse. It fills in forms in one click. Its Chrome Web Store listing shows 90,000 users.
  • Volume. Pro gives unlimited tailored resumes and cover letters. If you apply for many jobs a month, that may cost less per job.
  • Free to start. The free plan includes 2 tailored resumes and 2 application packets.
  • Search numbers. It tracks contacts and shows metrics on your job search.

Where Seal the Offer is different

  • The job ad comes first. It lists what to send, file types, page and word limits, the closing date and any rule about AI. Each rule it finds quotes the ad, and our code checks the quote is there.
  • It writes the application the ad asks for. You get a resume made for the ad, and the cover letter, statement or selection criteria it asks for. Our code counts the words and measures the pages. Files come in Word and PDF.
  • Claims about you are checked. Each one is checked against your resume and your answers. One that isn't backed is rewritten or taken out, never left as our guess. A missing detail stays a [bracket] for you to fill in.
  • Answers are built on your own stories. A kit has 15 answer cards, or 8 to 18 by type of interview. The answers draw on 8 stories from your resume. Where your resume has none for a common question, the answer is an example, labelled as made up.
  • It predicts the likely questions. Each card shows our estimate of the chance it's asked.
  • You can practise with a friend. Send a link. They ask your questions and rate each answer, with no account.
  • You pay once. Documents for one job are US$12, and an Interview Kit is US$39. Five kits to use within 90 days are US$169. Prices include tax, and nothing renews. In Australia they're A$18, A$55 and A$239.

Huntr writes interview answers too. Its interview question page says it gives questions for a job, with answers from your resume.

How to choose

  • Choose Huntr to track lots of jobs, fill in forms faster, or tailor many resumes in a month.
  • Choose Seal the Offer when one job matters: its rules, its documents and the interview, done together.
  • Or use both. Track your search in one tool, and prepare for the jobs that ask you to interview.

A government job with selection criteria

A made-up person finds a job ad with strict limits. It shows what each tool would do, not a result.

Made-up example

Priya, a made-up policy officer applying for a public service job

The ad

It asks for a 2-page resume and a pitch of up to 800 words.

Tracking

She saves this job and 12 others in one list as she browses.

Seal the Offer

The checklist shows both limits, quoting the ad. Her pitch comes in at 790 words.

Before she sends it

She fills the three [brackets] with real numbers, and reads it twice.

A tracker kept her search in order. For the job with strict rules, she wanted every limit checked.

Questions

Can Huntr write interview answers too?

Yes. Its interview question page says it writes questions for a job, with STAR answers from your resume. It lists this at $40 a month.

Does Seal the Offer fill in job forms?

No. It never applies for you. It gives you Word and PDF files, and plain text to copy into a form.

Which costs less?

For one job, Seal the Offer's documents are US$12 (A$18 in Australia) once. Huntr's free plan includes 2 tailored resumes. Huntr Pro is $40 a month, or less a month if you pay for 3 or 6 months. For many jobs, Huntr may cost less per job.
