Seal the Offer vs Teal

Teal suits people sending many applications. It offers a free job tracker, a resume builder with templates, and short plans for unlimited AI writing. Seal the Offer suits people who want one job done in full. That means the ad's rules, a resume and letter made for it, and interview answers from their own stories.

Where Teal is better

  • Tracking many jobs, free. The free plan has unlimited job tracking, with goals, notes and email templates.
  • Saving jobs as you browse. Its extension saves jobs, contacts and companies. Its Chrome Web Store listing shows 200,000 users.
  • Resume design. Templates and design settings let you style your resume. Seal the Offer uses one plain layout.
  • Unlimited AI writing. Teal+ has unlimited AI cover letters, summaries and bullet points. If you apply for many jobs a month, that may cost less per job.
  • Short plans. Teal+ can be billed every 7 days, and you can cancel at any time.
  • More tools. Its tool library lists 50+ tools, such as LinkedIn help and thank-you emails.

Where Seal the Offer is different

  • The job ad comes first. It lists what to send, file types, page and word limits, the closing date and any rule about AI. Each rule it finds quotes the ad, and our code checks the quote is there.
  • It writes the application the ad asks for. You get a resume made for the ad, and the cover letter, statement or selection criteria it asks for. Our code counts the words and measures the pages. Files come in Word and PDF.
  • Claims about you are checked. Each one is checked against your resume and your answers. One that isn't backed is rewritten or taken out, never left as our guess. A missing detail stays a [bracket] for you to fill in.
  • Answers are built on your own stories. A kit has 15 answer cards, or 8 to 18 by type of interview. The answers draw on 8 stories from your resume. Where your resume has none for a common question, the answer is an example, labelled as made up.
  • It researches the employer, such as its mission, projects and recent news, with links. You also get a one-page cheat sheet, and the kit as a PDF.
  • You pay once. Documents for one job are US$12, and an Interview Kit is US$39. Five kits to use within 90 days are US$169. Prices include tax, and nothing renews. In Australia they're A$18, A$55 and A$239.

How to choose

  • Choose Teal to track lots of jobs, style your resume, or write many AI cover letters in a short time.
  • Choose Seal the Offer when one job matters: its rules, its documents and the interview, done together.
  • Or use both. Track your search in one tool, and prepare for the jobs that ask you to interview.

Many applications, one interview

A made-up person applies for many jobs, then gets one interview. It shows how the two tools fit, not a result.

Made-up example

Sam, a made-up developer applying for 20 jobs this month

Week 1

He saves 20 jobs as he browses, and tracks them in one list.

Week 2

One employer asks him to interview. He pastes that job's ad into Seal the Offer.

For that job

He gets 15 answer cards built on his own stories, and research on the employer.

What he pays

US$39 once, for that one job's kit and its documents.

He used a tracker for the many jobs, and a kit for the one that asked to see him.
